Luke Littler breaks silence on burnout fears as wonderkid, 17, admits: ‘I didn’t realise how big darts was’

LUKE LITTLER has admitted that his schedule is “breathtaking” but he won’t get BURNOUT.

The teen sensation is now up to world No.25 having racked up over £300,000 in prize money.

Littler, 17, will go to the O2 in a fortnight seeking to win his first major title Premier League – and the £275,000 jackpot – having already taken glory in two Euro Tours, a World Series and Pro Tour this year and also hit three nine-darters.

The Warrington wonderkid admits it’s been a whirlwind but has it all under control as he closes in on over half a million in under six months.

He said: “It’s very tough. We are coming home after whatever Premier League, waking up at stupid o’clock to go to a Euro Tour. If I win on the Friday and Saturday I can focus then on the Sunday.

“I didn’t realise how big darts was in multiple countries. I only found that out after the Worlds.

“It’s breathtaking travelling to all these places. I’ve learnt a lot over the first four or five months of the season. I now know what else is coming.

“I’ll just relax myself and then the Euro Tour. But I won’t burn myself out.”

There were concerns when ‘The Nuke’ took on the gruelling Premier League schedule that he would crumble under the pressure.

But it’s been the total opposite, he is currently the most in-form player in the world and roared to the top of the Premier League table.

He added: “I’m just enjoying my darts. From winning in Liverpool and going straight to Austria.

“The first game was tough but then I slept, won the next day. The Sunday is always a long day but I got over the line.

“Then came to Aberdeen and I’m happy the way my darts are going.

“It’s just what I’ve dreamed of growing up watching the darts every Thursday. I’m here and I can finally say I’ve qualified. I can settle going to Leeds and Sheffield.

“It’s just crazy. I’ll just come to one night like tonight and I’ll go back and chill.

“Nothing this weekend so I can chill out and look forward to next week.”
