Lionel Messi opens up on retirement and reveals his plans to ‘teach’ after hanging up his boots

FOOTBALL superstar Lionel Messi has opened up on his plan to “teach” once he hangs up his boots for good.

The 36-year-old Argentinian ace has set the MLS alight with his arrival this season – but the legend has revealed what life will be like once his playing time is up.

Messi made a move to the American giants at the start of summer and has since taken the MLS league by a storm.

He has already scored 11 goals in 12 appearances for Inter Miami this season.

But the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has confessed what he wants to do once he decides to end his playing career.

The World Cup champ’s contract with Inter will expire in December 2025 – the Argentine has hopes to become a sport director and go into teaching after retirement.

He also opened up about spending more time with his three sons Thiago, Mateo and Circo.

When asked about football Messi told TV programme Olga: “Yes, it’s a job. I’m lucky enough to do a job that I love.

“While I have responsibilities and purpose, it’s still something I enjoy doing.

“What am I going to do next? I do not know. I would like to be a sports director, be with the boys, teach.”

When the former PSG stars contract ran out for the club in June earlier this year Messi was offered a big money move to Saudi side Al-Hilal and ex-club Barcelona.

But the ten-time La Liga champ opened up on why he made the move to the states.

He continued: “There are people who follow me all my life, who know me. You can tell when I’m happy, on the court.

“The idea was to start relaxing a little after so many years of having a career and enjoy somewhere else. And I’m now doing it.”
