However, it was Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Leverkusen who emerged victorious as 3-0 winners.

After goals from on-loan Bayern star Josip Stanisic – which Thomas Tuchel fuming – and Alex Grimaldo, Bayern were desperately chasing the game.

Legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was sent up the pitch for a late corner as the Bavarians tried to pull a goal back.

But Bayer went up the other end to net a third through Jeremie Frimpong.

This left 28-year-old Sane, who had tracked back to try and prevent the goal, in a rage as he booted the ball away before smacking the camera in the goal.

The former Manchester City winger has eight goals and 11 assists in the league for Bayern this season.

His goal record is bettered only by Harry Kane, who is now staring down another season without a trophy.

Although Kane had a night to forget after mustering just one shot all game.

It also saw Alonso’s side match a Bayern record for most games unbeaten across all competitions (32), meaning if they avoid defeat Heidenheim next week they will break the record.

SunSport previously broke down what made Alonso’s Bayer team tick, amid rumours he will join Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp steps down at the end of the season.

Failing to win the Bundesliga this season would be the first time Bayern have failed to do so since 2012.
