APC Appoints Gobir New Senate Leader

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the lawmaker representing Sokoto East, Senator Abdullahi Gobir, as the new Senate Leader.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a letter on Wednesday written by the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The letter which was sent to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, was read at the plenary.

Gobir replaced the lawmaker representing Kebbi North, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, who resigned as Senate Leader following his defection from the APC to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

2023: Tinubu Camp Speaks As ‘Manifesto’ Resurfaces Online

The Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) has again distanced itself from a reported manifesto of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Naija News reports that the TCO had in May denied a viral 28-page document touted as the manifesto of the former Lagos State Governor which circulated on social media.

The same document Titled ‘My Vision for Nigeria’, prepared by former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Olufemi Pedro and Legal Director of Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Babatunde Ogala, has started trending again online since Tuesday.

It is understood that the alleged manifesto contains details on how Tinubu would improve security and create hundreds of thousands of new jobs with a robust economy.

It also highlights how the APC Presidential flagbearer would transform Nigeria into an enviable country and one where there will be justice, peace and prosperity for all.

Atiku: Your Past Deeds Working Against You – APC Chieftain Tells Wike

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chukwuemeka Eze has asserted that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, is currently suffering the consequences of his past.

According to him, Wike not being able to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket and losing out on the vice presidential slot to his counterpart in Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, was simply payback for his past deeds.

Eze stressed that Wike should just accept his fate and move on, saying his unwarranted and unguided utterances in the past were the major factors hunting his political career now.

Naija News understands that the APC chieftain made the submissions in reaction to the rift between the Rivers State governor and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Eze called on Wike to honour the promise he made to Nigerians during the PDP presidential primaries in Abuja to support whoever emerges.

2023 Presidency: Tinubu Hails From South-South, Delta – Says APC Chieftain

Former Governor of Lagos State and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu hails from the South-South region, says a Delta State politician, Ariyi Emami.

Naija News understands that the 45-year-old party chieftain made the assertion while projecting Tinubu as the best person to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

Emami while interacting with newsmen on Tuesday described the combination of Tinubu and former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as a good product that the ruling party can easily market.

Explaining what he meant by Tinubu being a South-South man, Emami said: “Well, to some of us, he is good to go. When a product is good, you don’t need a lot of advertisement to sell it.

“Asiwaju is a very good product and in Delta state, I don’t see any difference in other parts of Nigeria, if Asiwaju can get it in other parts, he can equally get it in the South-South because he is a very good product to market on his own.”

2023: Reno Omokri Reacts As Tinubu Reportedly Names El-Rufai As DG Of His Campaign Team

Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has reacted to reports that the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has been named the Director-General of the campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

According to Dailytrust, a source close to the leadership of APC hinted that former national chairman of the party and senatorial aspirant, Adams Oshiomhole was named as chairman of Tinubu’s presidential campaign council which is yet to be made official.

Similarly, the former Lagos State governor also appointed El-Rufai, as the Director-General of the campaign council.

In a post shared on Twitter, Reno described the move as a subtle jihad against Christians, questioning if he cannot find a Christain to be the DG of his campaign.

CAN Speaks On Meeting Tinubu Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket Controversy

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has denied meeting with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, or any of his representatives over the Muslim-Muslim ticket controversy.

Naija News earlier reported that the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had said his principal is meeting with religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders to explain his choice of the former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.

Onanuga said the Tinubu camp decided not to make the latest development public until some issues are finalised, adding that there was an arrangement not to have it publicized.

He, however, disclosed that his principal would address the media when the consultations are done.

Reacting to the claim, Adebayo Oladeji, spokesman to CAN President, Supo Ayokunle, stated that Tinubu has not reached out to the association over the Muslim-Muslim ticket controversy.

2023: Pro-Wike Governors Give Conditions To Support Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, is expected to meet with governors loyal to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over the weekend on the crisis rocking the party.

According to a source that spoke with Daily Independent, the governors have agreed to give Atiku conditions before supporting his presidential ambition.

A member of Governor Wike’s strategy team, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Tuesday, stated that the aggrieved governors have agreed to remain in the party.

He said one of the conditions the governors would place before Atiku during their meeting is for him to serve for one term if he emerges president in 2023.

Other conditions to be tabled before the former vice president include, sharing of political appointments and the rezoning of party offices.

2023: Atiku, Okowa, Others Meet With PDP Senators

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa have met with the PDP Senate caucus.

The meeting was held to resolve the differences in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, Naija News understands.

There have been grievances in the party following the emergence of Atiku and his running mate, Okowa as the party’s flag bearers for the 2023 presidential election.

The National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu was also in attendance at the reconciliation meeting held on Tuesday.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has begun talks with religious leaders over the controversy trailing the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The spokesman of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO), Bayo Onanuga, made this known in an interview with The Punch on Tuesday.

Onanuga stated that the former Lagos Governor had begun talks with top religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders to explain his choice of Shettima as his running mate.

He said the Tinubu camp decided not to make the latest development public until some issues are finalised, adding that there was an arrangement not to have it publicized.

Onanuga, however, disclosed that his principal would address the media when the consultations are done.

The 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, have met some party chieftains regarding the forthcoming general elections.
Naija News reports that the meeting was held on Thursday at the residence of the APC presidential flagbearer in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Some of the critical APC stakeholders present at the meeting were Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state and Simon Lalong of Plateau state.

Others present at the meeting included the former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore and the former running mate to Tinubu, Ibrahim Masari.

According to the Nation, the meeting further deepened the relationship between the presidential candidate, his running mate and party leaders.

It is understood that Tinubu has been holding meetings with stakeholders in the party since he emerged as the party flagbearer.
