2023: Atiku Abubakar Fortifies Media Team, Makes Fresh Appointments

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday, approved the appointment of three additional aides to his media team.

Naija News reports that the appointment was made known in a statement signed by Paul Ibe, Atiku’s Media Adviser.

The names of the three new media aides are Eta Uso, Abdulrasheed Shehu, and Demola Olanrewaju.

This newspaper reports that their appointments take immediate effect.

2023: Femi Otedola Pledges Support For Tinubu

Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola has declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

Naija News earlier reported that Tinubu travelled to France after he held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Taking to his Instagram on Tuesday, the billionaire businessman shared photos of himself and APC chieftain in France whilst praying that God grants him his heart’s desire of becoming the president of the country.

He captioned the photo; ”I am always excited visiting my Great Friend Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. May God grant him his heart’s desire in becoming the President of this great Nation”

2023 Presidency: LP’s Alliance Talks With NNPP Has Collapsed – Umeh

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh has revealed that the alliance talks between the Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) collapsed over three weeks ago.

Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme on Tuesday, Umeh specifically said that the coalition talks broke down on June 15 because both parties could not agree on some issues.

Umeh said that the two parties could not decide on who will emerge as the presidential candidate and the running mate, saying that the LP has cancelled further discussion with the NNPP.

The LP Senatorial candidate berated the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for giving the impression that talks between both parties are still in progress.

Umeh stated that the LP Presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, cannot step down to deputise Kwankwaso because it would be injurious to his reputation and political career.

Peter Obi Will Dump Labour Party If He Wins 2023 Presidency – Oyinatumba

A former Chairman of the Labour Party, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja chapter, Comrade Che Oyinatumba has alleged that Peter Obi will dump the Labour Party and join another party if he wins the 2023 presidential election.

To this end, he appealed to Nigerians to support the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore instead of Peter Obi.

He also argued that contrary to widespread belief, the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are not throwing their weight behind the presidential ambition of the former Anambra State Governor.

Naija News understands Oyinatumba made his submissions in a programme held last Friday in Abuja and re-affirmed his position during a phone conversation with Punch on Tuesday.

Machina Alerts INEC Over Forged Resignation Letter To Favour Lawan

The winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Yobe North Senatorial District, Bashir Machina, has informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that a plan to forge his signature on a resignation letter so as to pave way for Senate President Ahmad Lawan is ongoing.

The spokesperson for the Yobe North APC Senatorial Candidate Campaign Organisation, Husaini Mohammed Isah made the allegations in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

In the statement, Isah condemned the alleged plot, adding that some leaders had become slaves to corruption and criminality in the country.

He went ahead to announce that any purported letter claiming that Machina had resigned is forged and does not emanate from him.

2023: El-Rufai Rejected As Tinubu’s Running Mate

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has been rejected as the running mate to the Presidential Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the Tinubu Support Organization (TSO) had on Monday endorsed the Kaduna governor as Tinubu’s running mate, describing him as the best choice for the vice-presidential slot.

Briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Monday, TSO Director-General, Aminu Suleiman, said that El-Rufai is a very experienced politician who has held office at both federal and state levels.

However, in a statement on Monday night, the APC North East Youths Stakeholders Forum Chairman, Haruna Sardauna, asked members of the ruling party to reject the endorsement of El-Rufai as Tinubu’s running mate.

He stated that choosing a vice president from a different region would be political suicide for the APC because of the significant amount of votes from the North East.

NNPP-LP Alliance: Kwankwaso Is An Ethnic Politician, Obi Should Move On Without Him – SERG

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso has been labelled as an ethnic politician following the reported breakdown of alliance talks between his party and the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

A pan-Igbo sociopolitical pressure organisation, the South East Revival Group (SERG) who made the submission said Kwankwaso possesses an ethnic superiority mindset.

The group added that the earlier belief that the former Kano State Governor is a nationalist has been found to be false.

It stated that recent utterances by Kwankwaso have shown him to be a religious and ethnic bigot and called on Peter Obi to cut off any alliance talks with him.

SERG noted that Obi has proven his capability and Nigerians are ready to support him all the way.

2023: PDP Not A Northern Party, Ayu Must Go – Adeyanju

The convener of the Concerned Nigerian movement and political activist, Deji Adeyanju has called for the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu to be removed.

Adeyanju in a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday supported the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his supporters in their demand for Ayu to go.

According to Adeyanju, Ayu as the party chairman conducted the most corrupt congresses and party primaries in the history of the party.

He wondered why the Chairman of the party, Chairman of BoT, and presidential candidate would come from the North.

Adeyanju in his take said the main opposition is not a northerner party, hence the need for Ayu to go.

2023: What Are Peter Obi’s Antecedents? Asari Dokubo Queries ‘Obidients’

A former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo has asked supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to mention the antecedents of the former Anambra Governor.

Dokubo also advised the Obi supporters named ‘Obidents’ to stop comparing the former governor to Bola Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former agitator argued that the pedigree of the LP candidate cannot match both his counterparts in the PDP and the APC in the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Facebook Live on Monday, Dokubo opined that the clamour for Obi to be the next President in 2023 is a futile effort which is going nowhere.

He also claimed that the former Anambra governor lied that he rejected plots of land offered to him by the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation (ASHDC) during his tenure as governor.

Dokubo insinuated that Obi was responsible for the recent release of the document showing that he rejected the land offer.

2023: Abdulmumin Jibrin Lists What Peter Obi Supporters Should Do

A former member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has asked the supporters of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to replicate their online campaign across the country.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Jibrin also asked the Obi supporters may have a chance in 2023 if they take their campaign offline.

The chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also advised the “Obidients” to reduce their insults and share some of the achievements of the former Governor of Anambra State.

Jibrin, however, commended the supporters of the former Anambra Governor for a well-coordinated online campaign.

I Stand With Tinubu, Buhari – Amosun Tells Aggrieved APC Members

Former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun as reacted to the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

There had been reports that some aggrieved members of the party have the intention of dumping the party.

Amosun, however, during a meeting with leaders of the party held at his residence at Ibara insists that he stands with President Muhammadu Buhari and the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu.

The lawmaker representing Ogun central senatorial district further stated that those planning to dump the party are free to test their popularity elsewhere

Amosun who was represented at the meeting by the faction’s APC Chairman, Derin Adebiyi, however, warned the aggrieved members not to negotiate with his name.

Peter Obi: You Northerners Destroyed Nigeria – LP Chieftain Blasts Kwankwaso

A chieftain of the Labour Party in Anambra State, Dons Uzor has called on the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso to concentrate on his ambition rather than throw shade at Igbos ahead of the 2023 race.

Uzor while reacting to Kwankwaso’s statement on running alongside Peter Obi, said the Northerners got Nigeria to where it is today.

The LP chieftain said the North should allow the Igbo to get there to correct Nigeria after running the country down.

He called for support for Obi to rule Nigeria for eight years and wait to see if there would not be changes in the country.

According to Uzor, Obi can never be Kwankwaso’s running mate, rather himself should be Obi’s running mate.

2023: North-West APC Begins Political Consultations For Tinubu

The North West region of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has begun strategising for its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 general election.

The team which is led by APC North West Chairman, Salihu Lukman, stated that Kebbi State will be the command center to plan, re-strategise and strengthen grey areas in the seven states in the geopolitical zone.

In a statement issued on Monday by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Musa Mailafiya Mada, the delegation met with the party stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi to plan the North West campaign.

2023: Why Bola Tinubu Is Finding It Difficult To Pick A Running Mate – Akeredolu

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has stated that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is finding it somewhat difficult to select a running mate.

Recall that Tinubu, who is yet to pick a substantive running mate for the 2023 election, submitted the name of Ibrahim Masari as a placeholder to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Akeredolu said there are many factors Tinubu must consider before picking a running mate.

The governor listed the factors as zone, loyalty, and the area with the highest votes.
