Shekarau Set To Defect To NNPP As Kwankwaso Arrives His Residence

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau is reportedly set to finalize the details of his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Naija News understands a former Kano State Governor and chieftain of the NNPP Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Sunday, stormed the residence of Shekarau in Kano to work out details of the defection.

The defection was to have been officially announced on Saturday but didn’t happen due to some undisclosed reasons.

However, with Kwankwaso and Shekarau’s meeting on Sunday, it is expected that an official announcement will take place tomorrow.

Gov. Emmanuel Speaks On Blocking Atiku From Seeing PDP Delegates In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has debunked reports claiming he has stopped former Vice President and 2023 presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar from visiting the state to consult with delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reports in some sections of the media had claimed Governor Emmanuel barred Atiku from his planned visit to the state on Monday.

However, a statement on Sunday by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong said there is nothing of such as the Governor has no power to stop aspirants from meeting with delegates.

Make Social Democracy Your 2023 Presidential War Cry, Social Critic Urges Kola Abiola

A social critic in Akwa Ibom State has advised the late MKO Abiola’s son, Kola Abiola, who is seeking to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) to adopt social democracy as his political war cry.

Effiong Etuk, a social scientist, told Naija News in Uyo, the state capital that social democracy will help Abiola to ward off the deepening extremism in the country if he becomes Nigeria’s president in 2023.

Kola Abiola has declared his intention to contest the presidency on the platform of PRP, a pro-left wing party.

Why We’ve Not Published Audited Accounts Of APC, PDP, Others Since 2016 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed why it has not published the annual financial statement of political parties since 2016.

Naija News reports that the 1999 constitution and the Electoral Act mandate all political parties in the country to submit their audited accounts to INEC for monitoring of their finances.

In an interview with The Punch, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi said the failure of the parties to submit their statements of account was responsible for the delay in publishing them.

He said the commission has audited the accounts of political parties up till 2016 and its currently vetting the 2017 and 2018 accounts.

My Resignation Letter Never Existed – Ngige Fires Femi Falana

The Senator Chris Ngige Media Office has slammed Femi Falana (SAN) for claiming that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Ngige, withdrew his resignation letter after the valedictory session with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Falana had slammed Ngige and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for allegedly withdrawing their resignation letters in order to remain members of the cabinet.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Ngige’s officer stated that no resignation letter written by the minister ever existed.

The office accused Femi Falana of embarrassing the public with “a bad harvest of his bumper imagination.”

Oshiomhole Withdraws From Presidential Race, Undergoes Senatorial Screening

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has withdrawn from the 2023 presidential race.

Naija News recalls that the former Edo State Governor had announced his intention to represent Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

On the occasion of his 70th birthday in Edo in April, Oshiomhole had promised to ensure that the people of the senatorial district are well catered for if elected in 2023.

In a new twist, the former APC national chairman on May 4 expressed his desire to contest for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the APC platform.

However, Oshiomhole was screened on Saturday for a ticket to contest the Edo North senatorial election by the APC screening committee.
