Kaduna: PDP Governorship Candidate Records Landslide Victory In Ward

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru has recorded a landslide victory in his ward from Saturday’s governorship election.

The PDP candidate defeated other contestants by a wide margin according to results declared at Kudan ward of Kudan local government area of Kaduna state.

Ashiru polled 5,637 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Senator Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 1,401 votes.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Suleiman Uthman Hunkuyi, scored 35 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Jonathan Asake, polled 60 votes.

The results were protested by one of the APC stalwarts, in the area who alleged that there was over-voting in some polling units that constituted the ward.

The Returning officer for the elections Prof. Saleh Ado, therefore, ordered for a re-verification and later endorsed the results.

He directed the aggrieved APC stalwart to put his complaint in writing and forward same to the INEC Headquarters in Kaduna for further action, which he did and submitted through the Returning officer.
