Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial tickets in the state’s primaries on Saturday.

The Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle was present for the election, alongside party officials from the APC national headquarters, and the state executive, among others.

Yari ran unopposed in the election, which was held at his local government offices in Talata Mafara and was supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission and security services.

Senator Sahabi Yau won the Zamfara North ticket, while Marafa got the Zamfara Central ticket, in a simultaneous primary held in the three senatorial zones.

While the state’s Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, was in Kaura Namoda for the Zamfara North exercise, the state’s Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, was in Zamfara Central for the Zamfara Central exercise.

In all, the activity was praised by the state party chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani stated it was a sign that the party will win the general elections in 2023.

Governor Matawalle also made a brief statement about the exercise, thanking Allah for providing unity to the APC in the state, which he said culminated in peaceful primaries.
