John Terry Names Five Premier League Strikers He Feared Most

Former Chelsea captain, John Terry, says he had four strikers he found so difficult to play against during his playing days.

John Terry started his professional career at Chelsea in 1998, and before he left the club for Aston Villa in 2017, he had won virtually everything in the game.

Some of the major titles Terry won at Chelsea include five Premier League titles, one UEFA Europa League, five FA Cup, and one UEFA Champions League title.

During his active football career, the 43-year-old English defender was seen as one of the deadliest defenders of his generation. However, John Terry, despite his proficiency in defending, had strikers he was scared of facing.

Terry said he feared the strikers the most during his active days were Thierry Henry, who made his name at Arsenal, Wayne Rooney, who became famous at Manchester United, Sergio Aguero, who became a football icon at Manchester City, and Harry Kane, who was unstoppable at Tottenham Hotspur.

After he became the latest player to be voted into the Premier League Hall of Fame on Monday, April 22, 2024, alongside Manchester United legend Andy Cole, John Terry was asked to mention the strikers he feared the most.

The retired England international said: “Thierry Henry was the best I came up against, the one I feared the most.

“Next has to be Wayne Rooney. He was a top, top player and what he achieved was incredible.

“I don’t know if it gets overlooked a little bit just how good Wayne was when he first broke into the England team.

“I remember playing against him in the Premier League and having him as a teammate in the England sessions. He was phenomenal.

“I’d also say Sergio Aguero or Harry Kane were difficult to come up against.”
