Jockey Roisin Leech ‘conscious and moving’ but taken for brain scan after horror fall at Ludlow

JOCKEY Roisin Leech has been taken to hospital for a brain scan after being knocked out in a terrible fall at Ludlow.

The young rider, who celebrated her first ever winner on her late grandad’s horse just a few weeks ago, fell from Mythical Hero in the opening race.

The horse crashed out at the third last and Leech was tended to immediately on the track by first aid staff at Ludlow.

She was briefly unconscious after the incident and the following race was delayed by around 10 minutes.

But shortly afterwards news emerged from the course that she was ‘conscious and moving’.

The 80-1 shot Mythical Hero was said to be unharmed after the incident.

Just last month, an emotional video of her being interviewed on Sky Sports after riding Applesandpierres for her first ever winner circulated online.

Fans reacted with relief when learning that Leech was seemingly fine after her fall.

One said: “Thank goodness. Was an awful fall and feared the worst watching that.”

Another posted: “Fantastic news. It was absolutely horrible to see.”

While another added: “Pray she has not suffered anything serious.”

Her injury comes just a few days after the racing world was left heartbroken by the death of New Zealand-based jockey Megan Taylor.

She was tragically killed after a four-horse fall at Ashburton races on December 15.
