According to The Athletic, West Ham have withdrawn their interest in signing the free agent.

Lingard joined up with David Moyes’ side as he searched for a new club this summer.

He has been a free agent since his one-year deal with Nottingham Forest expired at the end of June.

The 30-year-old even featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Ipswich earlier this month.

Lingard previously spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at the London Stadium, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 matches.

Wolves had also reportedly been interested in a move for Lingard but a deal never materialised for the former Manchester United star.

West Ham’s withdrawal of their interest comes with Lingard now in Saudi Arabia to train with Al-Ettifaq.

He has joined up with Steven Gerrard’s side and is expected to spend a month training with the Saudi Pro League outfit.

Gerrard has already brought Jordan Henderson and Demarai Gray to the club from the Premier League since his appointment.

Al-Ettifaq are currently fourth in the Saudi Pro League with five wins and just one loss from their opening seven matches.
