David Moyes’ side are now through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for just the second time in six seasons.

However, Bowen was sporting a cut and blood around his left eye during the game.

The winger could be seen bleeding from the wound although it is unknown how he picked up the injury.

Bowen also appeared to have had Vaseline applied to the affected area in order to protect it.

His eye injury was not able to stop the England winger from getting on the scoresheet, though.

Following a Ben White own goal and Mohammed Kudus’ fine strike, Bowen added a third for the hosts.

Martin Odegaard later grabbed a consolation goal for the Gunners during stoppage time but it was too little too late.

Speaking after the win over Arsenal, Bowen told BBC Radio 5 Live: “We had to fight, we knew we was playing a top side but it was a really good performance compared to the last few [games].

“We have not been at the level, but we were always going to bounce-back and tonight was the prefect way to do it.”

Bowen is in fine form for West Ham this season, with his latest goal taking his tally to seven in 13 appearances across all competitions.

He was also rewarded with an international recall, returning to the Three Lions squad over a year on from his last cap.
