In-form Frankie Dettori has four big chances on Haydock’s stacked Saturday card including a 25-1 shot

FRANKIE DETTORI’s farewell tour continues at Haydock on Saturday and he has four strong chances to strike.

That includes a ride for Aidan O’Brien in the day’s feature race and an interesting 25-1 shot in the other Group 2 on the card.

His biggest chance is undoubtedly Little Big Bear in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes, a race he is yet to conquer.

A Group 1 winner as a two-year-old, he finished lame in the 2,000 Guineas on return, and should relish a drop back in trip.

O’Brien has always given Dettori big chances and his Sandy Lane duck might be broken.

Dettori also has a ride in the Group 2 Temple Stakes, but he will be made to work much harder on 25-1 shot Equilateral.

Luckily, this isn’t a race he needs to tick off, but nevertheless this eight-year-old shouldn’t be dismissed quickly.

He was a Group 2 winner at his peak and recent runs in Meydan were better than the bare results.

Likely to be played late for a place, he’s an interesting contender for a Charlie Hills yard in fine form.

Dettori renews his partnership with Juddmonte and the Gosden’s in the Silver Bowl Handicap, where he rides the favourite Covey.

He’s won both his starts since a promising debut, latterly in effortless fashion at Newcastle.

He’s set to enjoy a step up to the mile and Dettori already has experience of him, having won on him before.

Dettori also looks to have excellent claims on the progressive Carzola, who bids for a four-timer.

He glided to success on his turf debut at Doncaster earlier this month and a 10lb rise for that could have been harsher.

He’s totally unexposed and Ralph Beckett’s horses are in scintillating form at present, which only enhances his chance.
