I spent seven years at Man Utd after coming through the academy and made over £16m but now I’m unemployed aged just 25

AXEL TUANZEBE has found himself without a club despite featuring for the likes of Manchester United and Napoli.

The defender spent seven years at Old Trafford after progressing from the academy but was never able to cement a regular spot in the team.

Tuanzebe, 25, earned over £16million during his time as a Red Devil, according to Capology.

His most recent deal at United saw him rake in £50,000 per week having signed a contract extension in 2021.

Despite his high salary he only featured 37 times for the first team in all competitions.

There was hope that he would become a regular following a successful loan at Aston Villa during the 2018/19 season.

During the campaign, he featured 25 times in the Championship and helped the club claim promotion to the Premier League.

But since that season he has struggled to find regular game time, even when he rejoined the Villans on loan for the 2021/22 season.

The move did not see him play much and he was recalled in January and loaned back out to Serie A outfit Napoli.

However, a change of country did not help as he only made one league appearance for the side.

Last season, Tuanzebe spent six months out on loan at Stoke City but injuries limited his game time as he only made four appearances in the Championship.

His contract then expired at the end of the season with the 25-year-old now among the free agents list alongside the likes of other former United stars such as Phil Jones and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Meanwhile, Tuanzebe is attracting interest from the Championship as he looks to kickstart his career.

TEAMtalk have claimed that Ipswich Town are “ready to make a move” for the former United prospect.

While it is also suggested that he could be handed a Premier League lifeline with Paul Heckingbottom‘s Sheffield United being strongly linked.
