He’s gone from strength to strength over fences since a modest opening salvo at Ludlow in November. In two runs since, the tip has shown his rivals a clean pair of heels at Leicester and Wetherby, sticking his neck out in determined fashion for the latter win off 7lb lower. He readily left behind a reopposing Tom Cody that day and if in the same mood one month on, he should maintain his unbeaten record in the cheekpieces under Alex Edwards.
KALEB (4.15 Plumpton, nb)
Is yet to prove his stamina, but the blinkers can help him get a deserved win at Plumpton. Amy Murphy could cash in with this useful six-year-old who is dropping dramatically in grade. He is used to facing much better rivals, going close in a pair of Class 3 events this winter before respectable runs at Cheltenham and in the ultra-competitive Lanzarote at Kempton last month. His stamina for this trip is a small concern but the blinkers can help him relax and Freddie Gingell’s value 5lb claim is a bonus.
FOR PLEASURE (3.30 Catterick, treble)
Olly Murphy’s yard can’t stop winning and For Pleasure, who had Graded form at his pomp, has been rejuvenated since switching to Murphy’s Warwickshire stable. He’s gone up 11lb for two recent wins to a mark of 122, but he was rated 144 at one stage and that should tell you all you need to know about his chance.
