Health officials in Uganda said the increased number of Ebola cases in the country is taking a toll on the country’s health sector.

Ugandan Ministry of Health says no less than nine deaths recorded since the outbreak, including a doctor, with a total number of 43 confirmed cases since the Ebola outbreak reoccurred on 20th September in the east African country.

Ebola outbreak has been recorded to cause acute, serious illness which most times become dangerous if no medical attention is given.

Irene Nakasiita, Uganda Red Cross’ communications Director, points out that the Ebola outbreak came just after the COVID-19 pandemic, within other disasters, limiting the resources available to cater to the Ebola outbreak.

It is tasking and beyond what our strength can accommodate at this time. At this moment, we are giving ourselves more PPE and other safety measures, and seriously we are for now the only been look up to as an option to cushion the stretched facilities available, she explained.

The World Health Organization said Uganda remains on red alert, as the outbreak was first noticed last week among a group of people who are on movement from one place to another, raising fears of spread beyond the east African country.
