Gunmen Kill APC Chairman In Osun

Unknown gunmen have killed a chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Atakumosa East Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Gbenga Ogbara.

According to reports, Ogbara was killed in his house in Ogangan, in the early hours of Monday.

The development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola.

Opalola in a statement noted that the investigation is ongoing and promised that the perpetrators will not go unpunished.

She said, “The APC Chairman was killed around midnight by some gunmen. Policemen have since been deployed to the area. The investigation is ongoing on the matter. The criminals will not escape justice.”

The governorship election in the state is fast approaching with the state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola seeking to contest for a second term in office.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke is hoping to clinch the position after losing to Oyetola in 2018 by a close margin.

Security operatives will be all out to protect the citizens of the state as the election season draws closer.
