Governor Obiano Visits Vandalised Facilities In The State, Canvasses Collective Efforts To Making Amends

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano today, Tuesday, 27th October, 2020, toured facilities burnt and vandalised during the the civil unrest which followed #ENDSARS protest.

Governor Obiano was in company of all the security Commanders in the state including the police, army, navy, DSS, among others.

Places visited include Divisional Police Office, Osumenyi, Area Command Headquarters, Nnewi, among others.

For the past three weeks, different protests and unrest marred the #ENDSARS protest resulting in destruction of police stations and private properties

At Osumenyi, the DPO and two police officers lost their lives to the violence, four vehicles were burnt, while their property were vandalised.

At area Command Headquarters, Nnewi, over ten vehicles including an armoured personnel carrier (APC) including the building were burnt, no life was however lost.

While appreciating the youths for helping to an extent to bring the situation under control, Governor Obiano said that the visit was to personally access the damages, calling on notable community members to galvanize and continue supporting the police for a quick comeback.

Governor Obiano expressed optimism that the police have learnt their lessons while the protest lasted, pointing out that it’s a call to increased professionalism, canvassing for support for their youth and the vigilante, who will in turn support the police for maximum security.

He warned against harrassment of law enforcement agents in Anambra state.
