Governor Obiano Donates 13 Rapid Response Vehicles, Rewards Police Gallantry During ENDSARS Protests

In Keeping with his mandate and drive to keep Anambra safe, Governor Willie Obiano has donated additional thirteen operational vehicles to the Rapid Response Team of the Nigeria Police in the state.

The Governor who made the presentations at the Police Area Command Headquarters In Awka, said that the reward was to appreciate officers of the police and boost their morale.

Next of kin to deceased police officers killed during the ENDSARS protest including,CSP Joseph Akpan, ASP Agu Micahel, INSP John Oche, PC Udegbulam Celestine were given cheques of 2 million naira each.

Over eighteen injured officers were given cash donations of 250, 000 Naira each for personal use, apart from their hospital bills which will be paid by the state government.

Special mention was made of gallantry of Onitsha area Command, among other police formations, rewarded with cash of one million naira.

The Governor said that the vehicles are to enable the officers arrive at crime scenes real time, stressing that they should not be abused, asking them not to allow people live in uncompleted buildings.

While commending Anambra youths for mobilizing to defend their communities, he remindedofficers that the ENDSARS brought alot of lessons, especially to the police; as it relates to corruption and brutality, urging them to begin a robust patrol within the state in Nkpor, Upper Iweka, Okpoko, Ogidi, Inland Town, among other places.
