Gov. Adeleke Fingered As Hoodlums Attack Ex-Commissioner, Injure Six People
The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been fingered in the attack involving a former Commission for Works, Remi Omowaiye, and his team at Isida Area of Ilesa.
Naija News earlier reported that Omowaiye was in a spare parts market to distribute food items to traders as gifts for the festive season when assailants shot sporadically and attacked him with stones and bottles.
Witness said the assailants arrived at the market on motorcycles at 6:22 p.m. and started pelting the former commissioner and his aides with missiles before resorting to shooting sporadically.
Sharing his ordeal, Omowaiye, who served as commissioner under the administration of former governor Gboyega Oyetola, said some of his aides were stabbed and one of his security details was severely injured by a stone that hit his face.
He explained that he was at the market to share cows and rice with the traders to rejoice with them for the festive season and the name of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, was inscribed on the cows he took to the market.
Adeleke Should Be Held Responsible
Omowaiye in an interview with PUNCH alleged that the hoodlums are working for Adeleke stressing that six people were injured, while two vehicles in his entourage were also damaged during the incident.
The former commission claimed that he heard one of the thugs saying they were acting on the instruction of governor Adeleke and he should be held responsible if anything happens to them.
He said: “My Highlander was riddled with bullets and the screens badly damaged. So, we had to just scramble for safety. We went straight to the police station because we saw that a lot of people have been injured and we didn’t want to take the laws into our hands.
“I heard one of the voices saying they are acting on the instruction of the governor. So, the governor should face governance and stop attacking us. We have an election in February and I know what they want to do is to intimidate a lot of us to leave the State and we are not going to do that. If anything should happen to us, Governor Adeleke should be held responsible. About six people sustained various levels of injuries but no life was lost. Two cars were damaged.”
