Gov Abdulrazaq Swears In Six High Court Judges In Kwara
The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has sworn in six new judges to the high court bench.
Naija News understands that this ceremony marks the 11th addition to the judiciary since Governor Abdulrazaq took office in 2019.
Governor Abdulrazaq viewed this occasion as a significant achievement, highlighting the state’s dedication to ensuring access to justice, fairness, and adherence to the law.
He also noted that this counts as the 11th High Court Judge whose commission he has carried out within the first five years of his tenure.
The governor congratulated the newly appointed judges and their families, expressing his admiration for their hard work and other commendable attributes that led to their appointments.
He said: “Today, you have been entrusted with the immense responsibility of upholding justice and ensuring that the rights of every citizen are protected.
“I am confident that you will discharge your duties with diligence, impartiality, and with the overriding interest of the community and national security.
“As you take on this noble task, remember that your decisions will shape the lives of individuals and the fabric of our society. Let me remind you of the remarkable words of Usman Dan Fodio, who said that ‘a kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure injustice.
“I assure you of our continuous support and cooperation to ease your task. Our administration has renovated and remodelled several courts within the state.
“Recently, I approved the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin to serve as courtrooms for more judges while also creating a more befitting environment for the Revenue Courts in the state.
“It is our desire that this will be followed, all things being equal, with the construction of a new court complex to ensure the state has befitting courtrooms.
“Official SUVs have since been procured for the use of the newly appointed judges. A seamless working relationship between the two arms of government has ensured timely payments of allowances and entitlements to the judicial officers, among other things.”
The governor praised the courts, lawmakers, and law enforcement bodies for working together in keeping Kwara State and for ensuring the peaceful living and security of its residents.
He encouraged them to stay together in their efforts to build a better Kwara State and Nigeria.
