Gerwyn Price gives update on new business venture as he reveals darts-inspired name and logo for fish and chip shop

DARTS star Gerwyn Price is on the lookout for a sign maker to make his fish and chip shop logo a reality as he continues his side hustle.

Price, 39, is one of darts’ top players but is not taking part in tonight’s Premier League semi-finals.

But, after reaching the summit of the sport with victory in the 2021 World Championships, Price has been branching out into other fields.

The Welshman previously ran a cafe in his hometown of Markham, providing delicious treats and hot beverages to locals.

However, Price shut it down at the end of 2023 after struggling for business, with the cafe to be turned into a flat.

Instead, Price is now transforming a nearby former pharmacy into a fish and chip shop.

He revealed it will be called Chippy 501 – a reference to the score players start matches on.

And he asked his 311,000 followers: “Need a sign made for the outside of the chip shop with this logo… any recommendations of companies?”

Price will be hoping fans flock to Markham for the battered goods.

He will also be selling tasty kebabs – something that darts rival Luke Littler will approve of – after getting planning permission in 2024.

But there is no confirmation of when the takeaway will get off the ground.

Price previously explained his plans to move into the takeaway business when he announced the closure of his café in December.

He said: “The café is not doing too good at the minute – sometimes business is a little bit up and down.

“So, the café is going to shut. I’m opening a fish and chip/kebab shop. Turn the café into a flat.

“It’s a small village, it’s all about footfall in the village. Some days it earns a bit. Some days it doesn’t. It’s a bit slow.

“We will do deliveries. We didn’t do any from the café which may have probably helped.

“When I hope the fish and chip shop, it will be the likes of Just East and Deliveroo. It will be a bit better.”

Inside Littler’s massive rise

LUKE LITTLER has taken the darts world by storm since exploding onto the scene at the PDC World Championship.

The Nuke reached the final on his Ally Pally debut at just 16 years of age – smashing records along the way.

He has since joined Jude Bellingham on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.

And the teenage titan even had to snub an invite from the WWE.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Littler is plotting to create a fitness empire.

He is also cashing in away from the Oche thanks to an Instagram side hustle.

And he’s even the face of a brand new cereal.
