Fintiri: Hayatu-Deen Stepped Down For Atiku Abubakar

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has claimed that Mohammed Hayatu-Deen stepped down for Atiku Abubakar in the race for the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential ticket.

Naija News reported earlier that Hayatu-Deen, one of the presidential candidates, had announced he has withdrawn from the race, citing monetization of the process.

He however did not disclosed if he would be backing another aspirant.

Speaking to Channels Television on the sidelines of the PDP’s National Convention in Abuja on Saturday, Fintiri said: “Hayatu-Deen has stepped down for him (Atiku).

“I think he has stepped down for him. He has instructed his delegates to vote for Atiku.”

The Adamawa governor expressed hope that the former Vice President would emerge as the PDP’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Meanwhile, a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Nwachukwu Anakwenze has withdrawn from the presidential race for the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Though the presidential screening committee led by former Senate President, David Mark had screened the US-trained Medical Doctor out of the race.

Anakwenze in his statement warned that if the party change the rule in the middle of the game, no decent competitor would stand a chance to compete fairly.

He disclosed that he withdrew from the race due to the decision of the party to throw its presidential ticket open despite the zoning principle enshrined in the party’s constitution.
