FG Shuts Down Abuja Private School Over Bullying (Video)

The Federal Government has reportedly shut down Lead British International School in Abuja over an allegation of bullying.

Naija News learned that the decision was taken following the visit of the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, to the school on Tuesday.

In a video seen by our correspondent, During the visit, the minister condemned the bullying incident and promised to get justice for the victim.

The minister also asked the school management to address the cases of bullying in the institution.

It was learned that the school will be closed for three days pending the outcome of the investigation of the allegations.

The report was also corroborated by a former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmed, in a post via his official X handle.

He wrote: “Reports indicate that the Lead British International School has been closed by the authorities. Bullying in any form should not be allowed or tolerated. Once again, Twitter/X NG has been put to positive use.”

It was earlier reported that there is an outrage on social media following the alleged bullying of a female student of the school.

An X user, @mooyeeeeeee, in an SOS post accompanied by two videos on Monday night, is seeking justice for the female student and to stop bullying in society.

There’s a video I’m about to post. I need you guys to help me get justice for (sic). She was bullied in her school by her classmates at Lead British School, Abuja. Pls make it go viral so she can get justice,” the post read.

In the horrifying clips, the victim was seen being slapped repeatedly by another female student while asking “Who broke my heart?”

In another video, the victim was seen sitting next to a male classmate who was heard saying, “I spoilt her relationship”.

It was gathered that the video of the assault was shared on Snapchat by the bullies to embarrass the victim.

Lead British School Reacts To Viral Video Of Student Being Bullied

Meanwhile, the management of the school has condemned the incident of bullying in the institution.

In a statement issued on Tuesday,  the Head of Abuja School, Abraham Ogunkambi said the school management is taking the matter seriously.

Ogunkambi said the school has reached out to the victim and her parents to provide support and other counselling services to help cope with the emotional and psychological impact of the incident.
