The confusion which greeted the exit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries in Abuja on Saturday has been laid to rest.
Naija News reports Atiku and his entourage earlier in the evening, left the Moshood Abiola National Stadium venue of the exercise shortly after his arrival, throwing up some questions among his supporters and other party faithful.
However, a top ally of the former Vice President, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has explained the reason behind Atiku’s movement.
According to Fintiri, Atiku only stepped out to attend to an urgent development that needed his attention.
“He had some matters to go and attend to. He will soon be here. It is not anything to worry about,” Fintiri explained to journalists.
This online news platform reports Atiku has already returned to the venue of the ongoing PDP presidential primaries.
In a related development, the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has pulled out of the race for the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Naija News reports Tambuwal stepped down from the race shortly before voting began at the PDP primaries and declared support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He told his supporters at the ongoing PDP Presidential primary election at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday night to vote for Atiku.
His decision attracted a loud cheer from delegates at the special convention ground.
Explaining why he stepped down, the Sokoto State Governor submitted the need for the PDP to rally around one another and present a candidate that can save Nigeria informed his decision.
