Everton rip up striker Salomon Rondon’s contract after just 31 games and three-goal haul

EVERTON have confirmed the departure of Salomon Rondon.

SunSport revealed the striker’s future was in doubt and could have been shipped out in the transfer window.

But The Toffees are not waiting around and announced Rondon has ripped up his contract.

A statement read: “Salomon Rondon has left Everton with immediate effect after reaching an agreement with the Club to terminate his contract.

“The Venezuela striker joined the Blues from Chinese team Dalian Professional in August 2021 and made 31 appearances for Everton, starting 13 matches and scoring three goals.

“The 33-year-old’s deal was initially due to end at the end of June 2023.

“Everyone at Everton wishes Salomon all the best for the future.”

Rondon missed the defeat at Bournemouth that left the club on a low going into the World Cup break because of a toe problem.

And the Venezuelan faced training with the younger players as boss Frank Lampard planned ahead without him.

Everton return to Premier League action on December 26 against Wolves, sitting one point above the drop zone.

But they played Manchester United in a mid-season friendly, as stars return from the winter World Cup.

The match at United’s Carrington training base ended in a 1-1 draw.

No details about the game – which was played behind closed doors – were released by either club.
