Everton End Winless Run With Stunning Victory Over Brentford

Everton have finally ended their winless run in style by beating Brentford away at Gtech Community Stadium earlier this evening, September 23.

The 3-1 stunning victory is Everton’s first win this season after 6 Premier League games and the win has lifted them from the bottom of the league table to the 15th spot with 4 points.

Within the first six minutes, the persistent visitors took the lead thanks to a skillfully executed half-volley by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

After that, Everton continued to push for more goals as Dwight McNeil’s shot missed the target and Doucoure’s subsequent superb opportunity hit the crossbar.

While the visitors continue to miss goalscoring opportunities, Brentford’s Mathias Jensen equalized against the run of play with a low shot into the bottom corner just 90 seconds after Doucoure came close to scoring once more.

Beto, Everton’s stunning £30 million summer addition, came perilously close to scoring his first Premier League goal just before halftime.

But after 67 minutes, it was Brentford’s shaky defense that allowed captain James Tarkowski to head home McNeil’s corner, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin swiftly pounced on James Garner’s feed to secure a much-needed three points.

The goal was Calvert-Lewin’s first open-play Premier League goal away from home since May 2021. Since May 2022, the English forward had made 19 league appearances but had only scored twice while experiencing numerous setbacks due to injuries.

But such stats wouldn’t count much as he made sure that coach Sean Dyche record his first Premier League win this season.
