Ebola outbreak in Uganda gets €200,000 from EU

The European Union has made a move with the support of 200,000 euros to help the Ugandan Red Cross as a fresh Ebola outbreak rocked the East African country and has left not less than 40 people dead.
The organization was responding to the urgent call for help through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).


On 20th September Uganda declared an Ebola outbreak after a test carried out on a patient in Mubende district in central Uganda, the 24-year-old man died from the Ebola virus after contracting the rare strain from Sudan.


Research has shown that strain is not only less transmissible but also has lower mortality of (40-100%) than the Zaire strain (70-100%).

Sudan currently has no approved vaccine against the strain, compared to the Zaire strain, not quite long The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on 24 September, announced an end to the Ebola outbreak in its country.
