The star had nowhere to go because of the massive crowd

Fans lined the streets calling his name

Onana was finally put in a car that fans surrounded

The Cameroonian shot stopper had drawn a massive crowd of fans because of a change to the match’s venue.

The Afcon qualification clash should have been played in Zimbabwe, but was instead held at the Mandela National Stadium in Uganda after the grounds in Zimbabwe were deemed to be substandard.

Uganda is known to have a huge number of Manchester United fans and that was clear when Onana tried to make his way through the streets after the game.

Fans swarmed around the 28-year-old and could be heard screaming his name and asking him for photographs.

After fighting his way through the sea of people, Onana was able to get into a car before heading off to the airport.

Army personnel could be seen paving a way for Onana to get out on to the road, leaving the Cameroon team bus behind.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan star had already caused a stir when he arrived in Uganda for the clash earlier in the week.

Fans had been waiting at the Entebbe International Airport for his arrival and reports claim that airport staff and security were also asking him for photographs.

His efforts on the pitch had certainly earned him some appreciation from the Cameroon fans as he stood out as a star performer for The Indomitable Lions by keeping a clean sheet.

Onana made five saves to help Cameroon take another step closer to qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Up next for the experienced keeper is a return to the Premier League as Man Utd travel to Southampton on Saturday to try and right the wrongs of their 3-0 trashing to Liverpool last time out.

It’ll be a busy week for Onana and Co as United also face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup in the midweek and Crystal Palace the following Saturday.
