Details Of What Buhari Told New APC Chairman, Adamu During Their Meeting Emerges

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday played host to the newly elected chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Adamu was brought to the Villa by his predecessor in office, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State who was the chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, Naija News reports.

Speaking during the meeting, President Buhari charged Adamu to be fair and firm in the discharge of his duties.

He also appreciated the efforts and commitments of the Buni-led committee to the affairs of the party which eventually resulted in the conduct of the APC National Convention and the emergence of a national working committee led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

“Today, we should all be happy that the party has nursed its wounds and healed itself sufficiently to march forward to face the challenges of the coming state and General elections,” the President was quoted by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu to have said during the meeting.

“When I reflect on policies of the administration on the economy and specifically in the development of agriculture, infrastructure, ICT and innovation and the welfare measures we have put in place for women, the youth and the less privileged members of the society I get fresh confidence that our citizens will continue supporting the APC in our electoral battles.’’

“Our government,” said the President “is working for the betterment of the country. Our policies & programmes aim at nothing but the betterment of the country and its people. Essentially, the party should take the programmes of the government to the people to infuse confidence into them,” he added.

While appreciating the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, President Buhari urged the new chairman to set to work immediately as the 2023 elections are very close.
