Confusion As Court Puts Ayade’s Defection Judgment On Hold

There is confusion in the Federal High Court in Abuja as Justice Taiwo Oladipupo Taiwo put the judgment on the defection of the Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) on hold.

Justice Taiwo put the judgment on hold on Wednesday after the counsel to Governor Ayade, Mike Ozekhome in a letter claimed to be drawing the attention of the court to a judgment of the Court of Appeal delivered in Enugu.

The judge ordered the council in the suit to address him on the implications of the appellate court’s judgment on the present case.

Before the presentation of the letter, the judge was expected to deliver the judgement this morning.

At the time of filing this report, Emmanuel Ukala for PDP, which instituted the case against Ayade, was addressing the court.

Justice Taiwo directed the counsel to Ayade to make a case for him while the lawyer to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will follow.

Meanwhile, legal fireworks have been ignited by lawyers in the defection suit.

There are no signs that the judge would deliver the judgment after being addressed by the lawyers.
