Durrant, who is a three-time BDO Worlds Darts Champion, had received an outpouring of love and kind messages following his tragic loss.

And he saw a familiar face in the O2 tonight in the shape of Luke Humphries, who embraced him in a touching moment behind the scenes.

The heartwarming hug was caught on camera and shared to Durrant’s social media with the caption: “Been a tough week. This has just made things ok again.”

Fans were touched by the emotional embrace and reacted on X, offering messages of support to Durrant and applauding Humphries for his caring act.

One wrote: “What a lovely touch this is.”

While another added: ” Who’s cutting onions, two brilliant lads!”

A third posted: “I love Luke Humphries. What a player and even better bloke.”

And a fourth commented: “This is mint. Well done for making it there. Full credit for you. I’m sure he’s looking down at you with pride.”

Durrant was superb on the commentary team as history was made with the Premier League’s first ever all-debutant final between Humphries and teen sensation Luke Littler.

Unfortunately for Humphries he was unable to repeat his World Championship success over Littler and this time fell to defeat at the hand of the 17-year-old sensation.

Littler put on a show for the O2 crowd as he hit a stunning nine darter in his 11-7 win over Cool Hands Luke.

The teenager will now pocket £275,000 in prize money as well as etching his name in darts history.
