Champion Hurdle hope Knight Salute likely to miss rest of season after ‘severe’ setback, reveals devastated trainer
DEVASTATED Milton Harris has revealed stable star Knight Salute will likely miss the rest of the season after suffering a ‘severe’ injury.
The Champion Hurdle hope ‘injured himself’ getting up from general anaesthetic after having a tooth extracted.
Knight Salute will likely miss the rest of the season after suffering a ‘severe’ setbackPA
Harris, who himself spent a week in intensive care earlier this month, said the four-year-old gelding is unlikely to race again this campaign.
The trainer wrote on Twitter: “We are very disappointed to have to announce that our stable flag bearer/warrior, Knight Salute, has unfortunately met with a severe setback.
“He was having a tooth extracted and unfortunately injured himself getting up from the general anaesthetic, he will most likely miss the rest of the season.
“Our current priority is to make his life comfortable.”
The Aintree Grade 1 winner was sensational last season, winning three straight Grade 2s before dead-heating with Pied Piper during the Grand National meeting.
In October Pied Piper got the better of Knight Salute when they locked horns at Cheltenham.
