Burnley forced to backtrack after facing major backlash for controversial job advert

BURNLEY have been forced to backtrack on their pursuit of a better atmosphere after backlash from fans.

The Clarets have been uninspiring in the Premier League since their record breaking promotion campaign last season.

And it would appear that the atmosphere inside Turf Moor has left a lot to desire too.

As a result the club recently advertised online for a drummer to help “keep fans engaged and excited” inside the stadium on matchdays.

However the advert was met with a lot of resistance by Burnley fans with many supporters not sold on the idea.

And their club has listened to their thoughts on the proposal of hiring a percussionist to spur on Vincent Kompany and Co.

Season ticket holders have instead received an email today which explains their decision and asks for ideas on what can be done to change the club’s “flat” atmosphere.

It read: “We are writing to you regarding a recent club job advert that was placed for a drummer. Much speculation has arisen from this advert and feedback on both sides of the coin has been heard.

“At the end of last season, Vincent Kompany asked the fans to make Turf Moor a ‘Fortress’. Despite this, most supporters would agree that the atmosphere at Turf Moor this season has felt flat.

“With that, we come to you, the season ticket holder, to hear your suggestions on how we can collectively lift the match day atmosphere.

“We are open to hearing any and all suggestions as to how to bring back the Turf Moor roar.

“We must ensure the squad hears and feels our support throughout the 90 minutes and beyond. We invite you to submit your suggestions as to how we best do this. Let’s bring the noise!”

Burnley may need to change their fortunes on the pitch if they want to hear louder support in the stands.

The newly promoted outfit have won just one game in the league this season and currently sit in the relegation zone on just four points.

Kompany’s side don’t host another game at Turf Moor until November 4 when Crystal Palace travel north for their matchup, which should give them time to make some changes.

Burnley will face challenges away from home in the meantime as they face off against Brentford, Bournemouth and Everton in the coming weeks.
