BREAKING: INEC Should Have Declared Kano Election Inconclusive – Says APC’s Gawuna

On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s Kano governorship election, Nasir Gawuna, said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should have declared the exercise inconclusive.

Naija News understands that Gawuwa stated this during a chat with newsmen.

The APC candidate, who was in the company of party leaders, said it was astonishing that with the same election, 16 of the House of Assembly elections were held the same day and the same conditions were declared inconclusive by INEC.

INEC declared Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the winner of the Kano governorship contest with over one million votes on Monday.

Yusuf defeated the incumbent Deputy Governor and APC flagbearer, Gawuna, who polled over 890,000 votes.

PDP Governorship Candidate In Kaduna Rejects Outcome Of March 18 Election

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has rejected the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Naija News recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Uba Sani, the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Kaduna.

In reaction to the declaration of the Electoral body, the PDP candidate said the election outcome did not reflect the people’s wishes.

In a statement released through his media aide, Reuben Buhari, in Kaduna on Tuesday, the governorship candidate thanked those who voted for him in the disputed election.

Mohammed Ashiru also urged everyone who supports the PDP and wants real leadership in Kaduna State to maintain peace and harmony.

The governorship candidate said, “People who believed in the vision my party and I stood for showed exemplary dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to our project. Despite challenges that include fuel and cash scarcity, insecurity, and threat, people still braved the odds to go and vote.

“And while the announcement of the result went through several postponements, they patiently and peacefully waited. I remain grateful for such commendable passion and support, especially the insight and guidance provided to me.”

Ashiru stressed that the entire electoral process, including the announced result which didn’t reflect the wish of the majority of Kaduna voters, would form the basis for future actions that he could take and the party.
