‘Blasphemy’: Nigerian Actor Reacts To Killing Of Deborah Samuel By Muslims At Sokoto College

A Nigerian actor Ibrahim Chatta has taken to social media to react to the gruesome murder of a female student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto identified as Deborah Samuel.

This follows the killing and setting ablaze of Deborah over alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by her colleagues in the school.

The actor in his reaction on Thursday after the unfortunate incident noted that hate speech is nothing close to Islamic laws, and killing and burning for hate speech is not true Islam.

He further cited at least six recorded times the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBHM) rose above insults as seen in the screenshot below:

Captioning the post, the actor; “This is not true Islam, killing and burning for hate speech is nothing close to Islamic laws. You all should be careful out there. Don’t be inhumane by defending the religion you know less about.”

Meanwhile, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Abubakar reacted to the gruesome murder of a female student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education identified as Deborah Samuel.

The Sultan charged security operatives to go after the perpetrators and ensure justice is done.

The Sultan’s reaction was conveyed in a statement by the secretary of the sultanate council, Sa’idu Maccido as the traditional ruler urged everyone to “remain calm and ensure peaceful co-existence among all people of the state and nation”.
