Now another young midfield ace is attracting attention at St Andrew’s, with Serie A top-four side Lecce back in for 19-year-old James.

Lecce tried to get him in the summer window and are still keen, despite a dream start to their league season.

The ambitious club have been tracking James for some time and watched his two impressive displays for the full Wales side last week.

But the highly-rated youngster does not fit in with the system boss John Eustace uses at the Blues.

So James, 19 — who has started just one of Brum’s six league games this season — may look to leave for regular football in January.

He has also attracted major interest from a Championship rival.

Blackburn are keen and have him pencilled in if the big boys come for their own young midfield star Adam Wharton.

James could be a ready-made replacement and he may move if he does not get more game-time with Birmingham.

Meanwhile, Bellingham has hit the ground running at the Bernabeu.

He has contributed five goals and one assist in his opening four games at Real Madrid.

Bellingham also produced a sensational display for England against Scotland on Tuesday, scoring and assisting in a 3-1 win at Hampden Park.
