Italy vs England betting tips

England’s quest for European Championship glory starts against holders Italy at Napoli’s Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

It’s been almost two years since the Three Lions lost the final to Roberto Mancini’s side at Wembley, and revenge will almost certainly be on the menu.

A lot has happened since that night.

England have since been relegated to League B of the Nations League, and suffered a slender 2-1 defeat to France at the World Cup.

But Harry Kane and Co. are more than capable of bouncing back from adversity, and Gareth Southgate is only too aware that Euro 2024 represents his last chance of winning silverware as England manager.

But if England’s campaign is to get off to a flyer, Southgate will have to claim England’s first victory in Italy for more than 60 years.

Italy have a point to prove having failed to reach the World Cup, and have fond memories of this fixture having won 1-0 in September 2022.

Keep it tight…

Recent history suggests this game will NOT supply bundles of goals.

In fact, only one has been scored in the last 180 minutes of competitive action between the pair.

And given only the top two sides in Group C qualify for Euro 2024 — Gareth Southgate will be desperate to avoid defeat in Naples.

In-form Marcus Rashford was forced to withdraw from the squad through injury, while Italy’s first-choice striking options Ciro Immobile and Giacomo Raspadori are both unavailable.

If Italy don’t win at home, they generally don’t lose either.

Italy haven’t lost at home in a European qualifier since since 1999, and haven’t lost in Euros qualifying since 2006 (W34, D6.

Our tip: Exactly one goal scored at 29/10 with William Hill

Yellow warning…

If he’s fit, Harry Maguire starts — no ifs, ands, or buts.

The 30-year-old centre-back started every single game at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and only missed one in last year’s Nations League clashes.

But it’s an entirely different story for Manchester United, where he’s made just 24 appearances all season and collected eight bookings.

The defender has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford and his lack of first-team action could see him targeted by Italy’s fluid front three.

Our tip: Harry Maguire to be booked at 14/5 with William Hill

Hey Jude…

Jude Bellingham became only the second teenager to score for England at a World Cup last year.

And there’s plenty more goals to come from the incredibly talented 19-year-old midfielder.

The Borussia Dortmund star has the ability to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and is often afforded a more attacking role under Gareth Southgate.

He’s managed 10 goals for Dortmund this season, with a further 46 efforts on goal and 16 of those were on target in 24 league appearances.

Our tip: Jude Bellingham at least 1 shot on target at 11/10 with William Hill
