England’s Bellingham, 20, won the Kopa Trophy for the world’s best player aged under 21 in Paris.

Bellingham helped England reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, and scored 14 times in 42 games for Borussia Dortmund.

He’s also enjoyed a stunning start to his career at Real Madrid, scoring 13 goals in his first 13 games since joining – including a match-winning brace in his first El Clasico.

Only four Englishman have won the award – Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan on two occasions and Michael Owen.

Kylian Mbappe is next in the betting at 4/1.

The French sensation finished third behind Erling Haaland and eight-time winner Lionel Messi in the 2023 awards.

But another excellent campaign with Paris Saint-Germain and France at next summer’s European Championships in Germany could propel him to Ballon d’Or glory.

Erling Haaland is available at 6/1 following his second-placed finish in 2023.

Another treble-winning campaign at Manchester City and a successful defence of the Champions League trophy could put him in the mix.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are next at 11/1 and 12/1 respectively, although the pair are likely to have already lifted their last Ballon d’Or awards.

Lautaro Martinez and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane are in behind at 12/1 and 14/1, while Rodri, Vinicius Jr and Mohamed Salah complete the field at 20/1+.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Jude Bellingham is the early 7/2 favourite to win the Ballon d’Or 2024 after being voted the world’s best Under-21 player at the 2023 ceremony on Monday.

“Kylian Mbappe trails at 4/1, with 2023 runner-up Erling Haaland 6/1. Lionel Messi is 11/1 to claim a ninth Ballon d’Or, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Lautaro Martinez are both 12/1.”
