Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale ‘won’t rush’ decision over his future after axe as Chelsea eye January transfer swoop

AARON RAMSDALE is reportedly in “no rush” to make a decision on his future after being axed by Arsenal.

The England goalkeeper, 25, has been replaced between the sticks in the Gunner’s last two games by David Raya, 28, who joined on a season-long loan from Brentford last month.

As part of that deal, Arsenal have a £27million option to buy the Spaniard at the end of the campaign should he be a success at the Emirates Stadium.

And that possibility looks a lot more likely after Arteta favoured him over regular first-choice Ramsdale in their 1-0 victory against Everton on Sunday and their Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

That has led to speculation that Chelsea are plotting a swoop to bring Ramsdale across the capital from north to west London in January.

However, TalkSPORT are claiming that “he will not rush into a decision” regarding a possible switch elsewhere.

Ramsdale, who signed from Sheffield United in 2021 and penned a new five-year contract in the summer, “is understood to be settled at Arsenal” and he is “ready to try and fight to win back his place”.

Arteta has favoured Ramsdale in goal since March 2022 and the ace had started every game for Arsenal since 2022 up until last weekend’s snub.

His boss admitted dropping the stopper left an uncomfortable feeling “in his tummy” and insists that he is yet to decide who will start in the North London derby against Tottenham tomorrow.

Arteta said: “It is very difficult with every player. And I suffer and I care about every player who is not playing.

“But this is the competition and this is my job to make decisions in the best possible way for the team.

“In your tummy when you have players sitting out and you have to announce the line-up, it is one of the hardest things.”
