‘APC Trying To Normalize Recession After Turning Nigeria Upside Down’ – PDP Senatorial Candidate

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate in Ogun State Olumide Aderinokun has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to normalize recession in the country.

In an interview with DAILY POST, Aderinokun expressed displeasure over what he called the sudden decline in the country’s crude oil surplus account, the depreciation of the Naira, and the string of terrorist attacks in the Federal Capital Territory and other regions of the country.

The senatorial aspirant said the ruling party has turned the country upside down but still trying to get praise for driving the country to predictable debt crises with no economic achievement.

He said: “Our economy is in a state of jeopardy because the government has alerted us that they are spending all their revenue on debt servicing, which simply means we are on a cliff.

“They have turned everything upside down and are trying to normalise recession.

“The world is suffering from inflation but it does not stop the government from protecting Nigerians with internal mechanisms, and we should not have gotten to this place.”

ASUU Strike

While condemning the prolonged ASUU strike, the PDP candidate said it ought not to take a long time for the government and ASUU to find a solution.

Aderinokun expressed worries that many youths are at home while their colleagues at private institutions are two levels ahead of them.

He added: “It should not take this long for the government to call ASUU for dialogue and find a solution to the lecturers’ demands.

“Everyday we see our youths at home while their mates in private universities are two levels ahead of them.

Some are yet to complete their admission process since last year and we have another batch that wrote JAMB this year. This is not normal.
