APC Convention: List Of Buhari’s Men ‘Kicked Out’ By Governors

The ongoing National Convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is progressing with mixed feelings as some alleged ‘anointed candidates’ of President Muhammadu Buhari are shown the way out.

Naija News reports that the repeatedly postponed convention of the ruling party started fully on Saturday evening after President Buhari arrived at Eagle Square.

However, soon after the commencement of the event ahead of the 2023 general elections, four political big wigs of the party did not make it to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC despite reportedly having a strong backing of the president ahead of the convention.

Naija News understands that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who is on top of the list of the candidates nominated by the president got the chairmanship post.

At least six aspirants had stepped down for him before the convention began, with Senator Sani Musa, one of them admitting that it was a very difficult decision to take.

In a 12-page document circulated at the beginning of the convention, the 22 governours of the party named 78 persons for national and zonal positions with some of them against the interest of President Buhari.

Those affected by the action of the governors are:

Former President of the Nigerian Senate, Ken Nnamani

A former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Adamu Aliyu

Engineer Ife Oyedele

Architect Waziri Bulama.

The four politicians, Naija News understands were tipped for deputy national chairman (South), deputy national chairman (North), national secretary and organising secretary.

The APC governors, however, have them replaced with Chief Emma Enuekwu, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and Suleiman M. Argungu.
