APC Chairman Adamu Reveals Who Will Decide Buhari’s Successor

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, had revealed that it is only God who will decide President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

The former Governor of Nasarawa State expressed confidence that the ruling party will retain power in 2023 and also win most of the governorship seats across the country.

Adamu stated that the APC leadership cannot stop any member from contesting elections or aspiring for the presidency because it is their constitutional right.

He voted that the National Working Committee (NWC)  will follow laid down guidelines in deciding the party’s flagbearer for the 2023 elections from the 28 presidential hopefuls.

In an interview on Wednesday with Voice of America, Hausa Service, the APC chairman added that only God can decide the winner of the upcoming presidential primaries.

He said: “You can’t stop our party stalwarts from contesting elections or aspiring for the presidency. It is their right and we are happy for them. There is nothing wrong for anybody aspiring for the exalted seat of the presidency.

“It is God that decides who gets what. Once God makes up his mind and says this is who He wants, that is what we are praying for. We have 28 aspirants for the presidential ticket and everybody knows that all of them cannot get the ticket.

“If it’s God’s wish, they all can even be president of the country one after the other. Ours is to ensure justice in the choice of who emerges as the candidate of the party. That does not mean we are perfect. But we pray we do the right thing.”

Naija News reports that some of the APC Presidential aspirants include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Leader Bola Tinubu, former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba; Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, among others.
