This trend started with Nico Schlotterbeck on the German FA’s Instagram account, before the RFL TV channel announced Bayern Munich’s Aleksandar Pavlovic.

Manuel Neuer was announced through influencer Chiara, while Stuttgart winger Chris Furich was confirmed by a video with his image on the side of a bakery bag in the Black Forest.

In the case of former Chelsea and current Real Madrid star Rudiger, he was called up with a video from his favourite kebab joint, Hisar fresh food.

The fast food restaurant has just under 2,000 followers on their own Instagram page at the time of writing.

Rudiger wrote under the post: “Hisar Döner = Bester Döner
Huge anticipation for the tournament – let’s goooo .”

Fans also seemed to be enjoying the novel revelation strategy.

One fan said: “I THINK THIS 10/10 how y’all do this with the announcement.”
