Ange Postecoglou ‘happy to disappoint’ King Charles as Tottenham boss looks to beat his favourite Premier League team

ANGE POSTECOGLOU joked he would be “happy to disappoint” King Charles by leading Spurs to victory over Burnley tomorrow.

That came after the Spurs boss was a guest at Buckingham Palace earlier this week.

In today’s pre-game press conference, he was reminded that the King swore his allegiance to Burnley in 2012.

When asked if he was ready to disappoint the monarch, Postecoglou joked: “That’s probably why they kept him away from me, mate.

“I’ll be happy to disappoint him on that front mate. Not a problem.”

It comes after Postecoglou visited the Palace on Wednesday as a guest of the Australian government.

He was joined by joined by Aussie compatriots Scott Munn, Spurs’ chief operating officer, first-team coach Mile Jedinak and Charlotte Grant of the women’s team.

The guests did not meet the Royals during the visit, however.

Of more pressing concern for the Spurs boss is a need to correct an alarming run of form for his side.

Postecoglou set an unwanted record of four losses on the bounce after last weekend’s 4-2 defeat to Liverpool – a feat that hasn’t happened at Tottenham for 20 years.

Those losses have come to Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and the aforementioned Liverpool – and Burnley should offer a chance for some reprieve.

The Clarets are currently 19th in the table and victory for Spurs would relegate Vincent Kompany‘s side.

Spurs’ loss of form has them looking more so over their shoulder than ahead to fourth place now, and three points would help them keep the resurgent Newcastle and Chelsea at bay.

Who do the Royals support?

Prince William – Aston Villa Prince William is a well known Aston Villa fan and a regular attendee at their games. He’s friends with former Villa hero John Carew and is often spotted with him at Villa Park. He said he chose Villa as he didn’t want to be like his friends, who gravitated towards Arsenal.

King Charles – Burnley While Charles has never been a vocal football fan, he came to support Burnley after a visit to Turf Moor in 2012. He said he came to develop a soft spot for the club after his charity worked in the local area.

Prince George – Aston Villa The Prince looks to be following in his father’s footsteps as a Villa fan. The pair have been spotted at Villa games throughout the season as the club push for Champions League football.

Princess Kate – Chelsea While she has never confirmed herself that she is a Blues fan, Kate is said to support Chelsea. That came from a charity visit in the area in 2015. One of the children at the event said: “We high-fived because she supports Chelsea and I support Chelsea. I love people who support Chelsea.”

Prince Harry – Arsenal Prince Harry revealed he was an Arsenal fan in 2017. His allegiance was shared when he was visiting the England rugby team and was asked by a fan who the royal supported.
