Amaechi Set To Declare Presidential Bid On Saturday

A former Governor of Rivers State and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is reportedly set to declare his intention to join the 2023 presidential race on Saturday, April 9.

According to Vanguard, the minister would be declaring his presidential bid at an event organised by the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

A member of the ruling APC told the newspaper that over 20,000 supporters of the minister were expected at the official presidential declaration.

It was learned that the Chairman of APC in the state, Emeka Beke, and the South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Victor Giadom, have led some leaders of the party in the state to inspect the stadium.

It was gathered that some governors of the APC, National Assembly members, and top Federal Government officials would be present at the event.

Meanwhile, governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have stated that the recent terror attack on a Kaduna-Abuja train has brought trauma and shame to the country.

Reacting to a statement issued on Sunday by the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, the PDP governors said life has no value since the All Progressives Congress (APC) assumed government seven years ago.

According to the governors, the sad incident has shown that the APC government is adrift, unconcerned and rudderless.
