ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION AND MINISTER OF JUSTICE ABUBAKAR MALAMI SAN

ENROLL OVER ONE THOUSAND LESS PRIVILEGED PEOPLE OF KEBBI STATE INDIGENTS UNDER KEBBI STATE CONTRIBUTORY HEALTH MANAGEMENT AGENCY.

In line with Federal Government determination to achieving universal health coverage for the citezenry, the Hon Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN today witnessed the flagg off ceremony for the capturing of enrollees under the kebbi State contributory Health Management Agency , facilitated by the Hon Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

Speaking during the exercise, the Minister says he has decided to enroll more than one thousand six hundred less privileged persons in Kebbi State as part of his contribution to efforts geared towards increasing access to quality health care services to the populace and to lessen the hardship they face in that regard.

The Minister says in order to compliment the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari led Adminstration of ensuring all Nigerians get easy access to quality health care services, he decided to key in to the Kebbi State contributory Health care management Agency (KECHEMA) Programme of enrolling Associations and Individuals under it’s health insurance scheme of registering people in to the scheme .

Malami informed the gathering that as part of the pilot Programme he has paid for the registration of five hundreds people under the first phase of the pilot program and directed his Foundation to hasten the selection of five less privileged persons from each of the two hundred and twenty five wards of the State who will benefit from the gesture.

Abubakar Malami SAN further Maitained that the decision was also aimed at encouraging the well to do individuals in the society to do the same saying it is the only way to achieve universal health coverage in the country.

Earlier in his address, the Executive Secretary, Kebbi State contributory Health Management Agency ( KECHEMA) Dr. Jafar Augie said the Agency was established

By Kebbi state Government in order to provide universal health coverage to people of the State in accordance with the National Health insurance act.

He said the idea of establishing the Agency is to reduce the challenges associated with seeking health care services adding that any body who wants to benefit from the scheme must be resident of the State and make the Annual payment of 4,800 naira or 400 on monthly basis.

He said the Agency has accredited primary Health care centres in all the 21 LGAs where those registered under the program can easily access health care services.

He commended the Minister of Justice for his magnanimity of paying the registration fees of more than one thousand six hundred people and for personally visiting the center to enroll despite his tight schedule.

He described the kind gesture and humility of the Minister as a morale booster to the Agency and worthy of emulation by others, especially the political office holders.

The Minister of Justice was accompanied to the enrollment center by the Executive Director wit Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria Alh Umaru Dankane, Chairman of National Commision for Person with Disability Dr Hussaini Sulaiman Kangiwa,Former Member Federal House of Representatives Eng Abdullahi Faruku Muslim , Barrister Faruku Maisudan National Secretary Khadimiyya and Alh Bello Nasarawa Special Adviser to kebbi State Governor.

Other people on the entourage included Abdulrahman Mohammed Manga ,Hon Shafiu Zauro,Alh Aminu Maizinari,Alh Idris Ibrahim amongst others.
