2023: Buhari’s Nephew Loses Katsina APC House Of Rep Ticket

Fatuhu Muhammad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the House of Representatives.

Naija News reports that Muhammad failed to secure a re-election ticket for Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua Federal Constituency of Katsina State.

The President’s nephew, who polled 30 votes, lost the House of Representatives primary election to Aminu Jamu, who polled 117 votes to emerge as the winner.

The returning officer for the election, Bala Zango, announced the results on Friday night at Daura Local Government Secretariat in Daura.

Recall that in 2018, three aspirants protested the alleged imposition of Muhammad, saying the party and the state government were unjust to them.

Meanwhile, Muktar Aliyu Betara has emerged as the candidate of the APC for Biu/Bayo/Kwaya/Kusar and Shani Federal Constituency of Borno State.

Betara, who is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, is coming back to the House for the fifth term.

He recently received overwhelming support from the people of his constituency who contributed money to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms for him.

The returning officer for the primary election, Amadu Umar Babaye, while announcing the result of the exercise, said Betara polled 194 votes to emerge victorious.

Responding, Betara expressed gratitude to his constituents and stakeholders for believing in him saying, together, they would achieve the goal of good governance for the masses.
