2023: Why Obasanjo Is Promoting Peter Obi In The North – Shehu

The chairman, Dialogue Group, Mahdi Shehu has said former President Olusegun Obasanjo is promoting the flagbearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the North ahead of the 2023 elections because of his disdain for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Naija News reports that Shehu made this known during an interview with Arise TV monitored by this publication, where he disclosed that Obasanjo has been visiting prominent personalities in the North to sell Peter Obi.

Speaking further about Obasanjo’s dislike for the APC national leader, Shehu added that the disdain came due to the extra courage, gut, audacity Tinubu had to take Obasanjo to court over the creation of extra local governments in Lagos during his tenure.

Shehu statement comes barely a week after the former President Olusegun Obasanjo expressed regret at choosing Atiku Abubakar as running mate and eventual Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007.

Obasanjo, who remnisced his life and feats both as a military head of state and as a democratically-elected president, stated that one of the costly mistakes he made in life was choosing his number two when he was vying for Nigeria’s presidential seat.
