2023: Why Kwankwaso Failed To Honour Arewa Joint Committee’s Invitation – Johnson

The spokesman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential Campaign Council, Ladi Johnson, has opened up on the reason the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, failed to attend a programme organised for presidential candidates by the Arewa Joint Committee.

Naija News recalls that the Committee had invited the four leading presidential candidates to an event in Kaduna State to come and share their plans and programmes for Nigerians.

However, in a letter dated October 14 and addressed to the organisers, Kwankwaso rejected the invitation over an alleged plan by the committee to endorse a particular Northern candidate.”

The former Kano State Governor pointed out that besides the fact that the date given was not convenient, NNPP had credible information that the event had been compromised.

Speaking during an appearance on Channel Television on Wednesday, Johnson reiterated the allegation made in the letter that the event was compromised.

Johnson said the former governor believes that some of the organisers of the event were supporters of one of the presidential candidates.

He said: “He rejected the Northern Elders’ invitation because he believes he has good reason to believe some of the people involved were supporters of one of the presidential candidates and he has had his fingers burnt before in 2019 by some of those individuals. So, he immediately said, no I’m sorry I will not be attending that. Not as a slight to the people of the North or the other organizers.”
